This was a very interesting book. It was more of a traditional mystery, like The Dry. The setting, the Giralange Ranges, are very much a character in this story. Jane Harper does such a fantastic job of evoking a feeling of a place. It’s one of the things I love most about both of her books. The actual mystery was pretty basic. I figured out what happened early on. There were a few red herrings, but they were pretty easy to dismiss. Although the mystery wasn’t complicated, I found this to be a v ...more

But if you like psychological thriller, I think you may enjoy this one more than I do. ...more

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and this completely lived up to my expectations for it! It was exciting, easy to read, and I really enjoyed how much character development there was on everyone. I also really enjoyed the alternating viewpoints and flashbacks, it helped the story develop quickly and amped up the suspense. Highly recommend this book!
