So I cried about 5 times but at least 1 of those times were happy ones.

The prince's illegitimate son is dropped off at the King's residence at the age of six - unnamed and unloved. He is immediately dubbed Fitz (meaning bastard) by his father's stablemaster, Burrich. Thus begins the life of a boy hated (and feared) by all. Everyone in Fitz's young life betrays him or tries to kill him. The things they do to him are unconsciounable (sp?).

Assassin's Apprentice is a book that I heard since 2014 when I started watching BookTube. I also had this edition of the book for a couple of years; the cover is beautiful. I decided that it is time to read Assassin's Apprentice. As I am pretty new in the fantasy genre and I am afraid to start and put it down, but if I read it while I listen to the audiobook, I will finish it. My first Hobb book came highly recommended. I don't know why I hadn't read any of her books before now, but one must start somewhere.
Assassin's Apprentice was in many ways a very typical story. A boy, very alone, must figure out his place in the world. In the case, it was Fitz, the illegitimate son of Prince Chivalry. Hobb is excellent with her character building. We get to see Fitz grow from an inexperienced, naive child into a young man who has leared a lot since first entering the castle.
