Rated 3.5

I did take awhile to read this book, but it wasn't due to the book but due to life. I really enjoyed the world that was built by the author. I also enjoyed the characters.

This is a book that I read for NBRC book of the month.
I have mixed feelings about this story. There was some great writing that really created some great imagery. There were times I could picture beautiful things that I just wanted to start painting on canvas. However, it felt a bit all over the place at the same time. Fantasy is not my favourite genre in the first place but I felt like there were some important lessons that could be learned that could still apply to matters of today.

LOVED THIS!!!! A mystery of old with kingdoms & deserts & a lost city called Weep. With all the characters you can imagine: princes, warriors, gods, ghosts, alchemists, angels and dreamers! Mystery, adventure, and romance, this story has it all! Laini Taylor's imaginative world building and lyrical writing is masterful. An enchanting dream world you will not want to wake-up from! Pure reading/listening bliss!

Loved this freakin book! Anything that starts with a blue girl impaled on a cast iron fence post dying and her screams are moths coming out of her mouth has my interest! I mean, seriously, that was the beginning; what could possibly come next? Everything!
This is a tale of two lost souls, feelings of connection, fantasy filled wonderment.
This book ends on a "to be continued". Seriously, literally. I usually hate any book that does that. I am so glad this is continuing.

I'm very torn about this. A part would get 5 stars, another only 1 or 2. I'll stay in the middle for a rating as I can't be swayed to either side completely. I found myself bored through half of it which really didn't help my reading experience. But then again it touches some really great topics and explores the nature of humanity in a great way.

I dont know how I feel about this book..... I didn’t love it nor did I hate it..... I am indifferent. I read the jacket blurb and it sounded like it would be really interesting..... but I have just finished it and I just find myself feeling glad. Glad that I dont have to pick it back up again and glad that I can choose another book.
