4 stars. I’ve had the sequel to this book on my shelf since it came out and I honestly had forgotten everything that happened in this one. This was a necessary re-read. I remember the first time I read this it was hard to get into because it was really slow and it was the same thing again here. There’s just so many slow and dull moments but the middle to the end is where things pick up and really get going.

LOVED THIS!!!! A mystery of old with kingdoms & deserts & a lost city called Weep. With all the characters you can imagine: princes, warriors, gods, ghosts, alchemists, angels and dreamers! Mystery, adventure, and romance, this story has it all! Laini Taylor's imaginative world building and lyrical writing is masterful. An enchanting dream world you will not want to wake-up from! Pure reading/listening bliss! ...more

Read if you love fantasy. Th

I listened to the audiobook of this novel. It was a brilliantly written fantasy novel about two different worlds separated after an epic slater. One world has humans and another has god sporn. The narrator from this book was perfect.

I dont know how I feel about this book..... I didn’t love it nor did I hate it..... I am indifferent. I read the jacket blurb and it sounded like it would be really interesting..... but I have just finished it and I just find myself feeling glad. Glad that I dont have to pick it back up again and glad that I can choose another book.
