My Lady Jane is a humourous retelling of the story of Lady Jane Grey, who became Queen of England for 9 days after her cousin Edward died of the Affliction at the age of 16 years old, before having her head chopped off. But what if he didn't die? What if Lady Jane wasn't beheaded? What if Lady Jane was married off to a man who spends the hours of daylight as a horse? Wait.. what?

This rather modern, fantastical retelling of Jane Tudor's story is absolutely grandiose!
This book has so much humor and style. It made me laugh out loud several times and as I've already stated here - books rarely achieve that for me. The authoresses obviously had a lot of fun playing with this story and it shines through every page. I wasn't bored once and breezed through the book.

My favorite parts of this book are were the narrators are talking to the reader. I loved how funny this book was I wasn't expecting that at all. ...more

So this book is really cute, and funny, and it keeps up the unique voice throughout (which I feel like can get lost sometimes as authors get more into the story). It was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed reading it. The only reason I’m not giving it 5* is just that… I didn’t LOVE it, but it could easily be a 5* read for someone else. I am excited to check out the TV show.

This was so fun! Alternate history with fantasy thrown in for extra measure in the story surrounding King Edward, Lady Jane Grey, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth I.

3,5 stars. It was an original story and I liked the humor. However, I'm really growing out of the YA couple-forcing thing. ...more
