2021: This has it all: real, down-to-earth, complicated characters; good plotting; interesting story; tension; historical & archeological details. Ruth goes to Italy when she is asked to consult on a dig by an old colleague. She is accompanied by Kate, her friend Shona & her son. They will work & holiday as she tries to come to terms with the death of her mother & Nelson's new family issues. I absolutely love Ruth - the series is in my top 5 favorites. But this one didn't wow me for some reason, which I found disappointing. Though, I still enjoyed being with Ruth (and the gang) and boy, did it end with a bang!
