What Members Thought

I loved seeing Reyes and Charley fall in love again and seeing that Charley and Cookie's friendship was the real deal. To me this series is all about the crazy and this book was all that and more.

I stood beside the booth and poured coffee into a beige cup that had the words FIRELIGHT GRILL written across it, wondering if I should tell my customer, Mr. Pettigrew, about the dead stripper sitting next to him.
Charley had a complete meltdown at the end of the former book which transported her to Sleepy Hollow, New York and left her with no memories. She is working as a waitress at the Firelight Grill and trying to piece together who she is.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead if you are not caught up with the Charley Davidson series. It was difficult for me to write a spoiler-free review, because this novel was so...different.
As much as I want to fall in love with the series again, I'm struggling.
I was very disappointed with this installment of the series, and it almost seemed like it was set in an alternate reality.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this one, because it begins with Charley not remembering anything about her past. It almost felt like starting over, and I was frustrated with the progress that had already been made in all of the previous books.
However, I shouldn't have worried about it. It felt exactly how a Charley Davidson novel should feel. It reminded me of why I enjoy this series so much. It was funny, and suspenseful, and the chemistry between "Janey" and Reyes was still as hot as ever. ...more

If you read the last book, which you should have because this series should be read in order, then you know that Charley has amnesia. She woke up in an alley in Sleep Hollow, NY with no memory of who she was and where she came from, and how she got into that alley.
This book starts out a little over a month after that one ended. Charley still doesn't have her memory, and she now goes by Janey Doerr. Yeah you know she couldn't be just simply Jane Doe. This is Charley Davidson we are talking about, ...more

#9 in the Charley Davidson paranormal series
When we last left Charley, she had found herself in Sleepy Hollow, NY, with amnesia. As she continues to live her life in confusion, calling herself Janie Doerr, she comes across several familiar (to us) people at the diner where she works as a waitress. Cookie is a coworker, and Reyes, Osh, Garrett, and Uncle Bob are all frequent customers. But Charley, as usual, gets herself involved with the people around her and tries to help their lives. Charley has amnesia and all her friends and family are around hoping she gets her memory back.
What I enjoyed:
* I liked Charley as Janey. She still tries and helps people and mostly succeeds.
* Janey ends up helping a lot of people with their problems and they are all interesting
* Reyes was so patient
* A lot happened at the end
What could have been better:
* This book seemed like a break that didn't really move the overall plot forward much
