Moondance
There was a dead tax attorney in my closet, sobbing uncontrollably into the hem of her blouse.

Nothing is ever simple for Charley. She and Reyes have moved to an abandoned convent to prevent the hellhounds from destroying them and their unborn child. Cookie is finally marrying Bob and all should be well with the world.

I always forget how much I love this series and wonder why I take so much time between books. The little quips that start each chapter make me smile. One of my favorites this time

Charley and Reyes are staying on hallowed ground while awaiting Beep's arrival. Cookie and Bob get married and Kit brings a case of a missing girl. It is nice to see the characters again. There is a lot going on as lots of ghosts are appearing and Reyes is up to something with Angel. Charley rushes in over her head as usual and Beep arrives. Then something horrible happens.

I wouldn't recognize anyone's voices if the narrator changed. Plus she's so good with inflections and voicing--I think she really adds to the enjoyment of these books. Plus this one was quite interesting because Reyes took over as the storyteller for a while. With the audiobook, this was particularly notic

I really love the Charley Davidson books. Charley and friends are fun to read about. I love the audio books - Lorelie King does an amazing job bringing these characters to life. That being said, I think Eighth Grave After Dark is my least favorite of the entire series. Charley is stuck staying on Holy Ground so there isn't as much action in this book. There is a lot of talking and planning and being wary. Charley whines a lot. Cookie & Uncle Bob plan their wedding. We do learn a lot about charac ...more
