#2 in the Charley Davidson paranormal series
This is a solid 4.5-star rating that I've rounded up to 5 stars because it was so exciting at the end. I like this book better than the first, either because the author toned down the wisecracks or because I was expecting them and got used to them. In any case, I liked all the aspects of this story. Not usually a paranormal fan, Jones makes Charley seem so normal despite her amazing abilities as the Grim Reaper. She goes to work, she has friends, she h ...more

Charley Davidson is at it again.
Darynda Jones is a genius. She has made Charley and the gang characters that you just can't do without. The more I read the more I want.
What I love most about this book, besides Charley's witty sarcasm, is that her family dynamics is so much better, we learned more about the powers that Charley possess(right along with her), and we were given more info about Reyes. Oh, yeah we can't discount Garrett Swopes.
I don't know where Ms. Jones is going to end this series ...more

This is the second book, and usually in my experience second books don't go over as well as first books, however in this case it just isn't true. Charley's involved in an interesting missing persons case involving a friend of Cookie's named Mimi. Other people connected with Mimi have ended up dead so they need to find her before whoever is killing people does. Charley also needs to find Reyes corporeal form, because he is in danger from another supernatural entity. Reyes doesn't want Charley inv

I finished this, but only because it was a book on tape I listened to as I commuted to and from work. The kitschy asides are just too much, like a nerd trying to be cool. I'm a nerd, and it was even overwhelming to me. I won't be following this series.

Charley's got a lot on her plate this time around. Reyes is hiding from her, Cookie has a missing friend and a ghost in her trunk.
I like that there was a glimpse into the family dynamics, but I definitely want more. Charley learns more about her powers and Reyes. I want an eventual happy ending, but it isn't looking good. I'll keep reading the series because I like Charley and the band of misfits she has surrounded herself with. ...more

I'm very much enjoying getting to know Charley and her crew! This was a nice follow-up to the first book in the series. I felt it had a bit too much going on...but it was still a fun ride!
