I loved the first book in this series, Halfway to the Grave , and the only thing marring my enjoyment was how it ended. I was therefore anxious to see what would happen in Book 2 and was already upset, having read reviews and knowing this book starts four years later. It ended up not living up to its predecessor for me, but I'm still a Bones addict so will be continuing with the series to the end, or until Cat becomes so annoying that she manages to outweigh the perfection that ...more

Even better than the last one, this series is now on my list of favorites. There's a lot of action and blood and gore as is fitting for a vampire novel but not in the stereotypical way. I really love these vampires, and I really don't like vampire books anymore. The pacing is excellent, and I couldn't put the book down.
Cat's older and wiser and working with a team of great men. It bothers me that there aren't any women team members, but I suppose that's realistic as these people are far beyond ...more

I'm hooked on this series. Cat is a great protagonist, kicks some serious undead butt and has a snarky, fun sense of humor and major parental issues to make things interesting , curses like a longshoreman and drinks gin like it was water. Her vampire beau Bones is....well, Bones is MINE! Hands off. I also like her new FBI colleagues. A nice bunch of tough, likeable characters with great banter among them like a good ensemble TV show.

I liked the story a lot. But I listened to it on audio and hated the voice the narrator used for Bones. He sounded more like an female prostitute or elder housekeeper from a Regency than he did a sexy male vampire. I'll be getting the rest in print. Also I liked how I could follow this easily without having read the first book.

I'm on page 224 of 357 of One Foot in the Grave: I'm not sure what all the hype is about Bones! I don't know if I'm just distracted or bored with this book. Just can't seem to care either way.
Well I certainly must recant that statement. Definitely must have been distracted! I have four 6 week old kittens and they've been crawling all over me for weeks now...aww love of the cuddly type.
Anyway, I can now see the attraction to Bones. He is an amazing vampire with a surprisingly strong love for Cat; ...more

Book two of Jeaniene Frosts Night Huntress series, does not disappoint. You want action, HOT bedroom scenes, a sexy British vampire, then this book is for you.
I still picture Spike as Bones, even if he isn't a peroxide blonde. But I tend to place James Marsters as leading man in a lot of my books ;) ...more

4 years have passed since Cat left Bones. She is now the leader of a special FBI vampire hit squad and she's Special Agent Cristine, known to the bad guys as The Red Reaper.

IMO (and probably in many other's) the best part of the Night Huntress series is the hero, Bones, and One Foot in the Grave was no exception. My rating of the first two books has been heavily influenced by his role in them. Sometimes Cat can be a little too much, but Bones is a good counterpart to her. He's alpha but not to the point where the H/h are always butting heads, he's willing to compromise and, although he's not perfect, he's both so sweet and sexy that you don't care about his flaws.

I did not care for the first half of the book, I felt like she rushed through it all just to get to Bones. Once Bones was back in the picture, then the story got a lot better. However, I think I missed a novella out there somewhere in some anthology so maybe that will make explain a lot of what happened during the rush part. I will definately check out the anthology before I go to book #3. All in all, I liked this book. The Bones bondage scene was pretty hot! I think he might be my first "book b
