This reader has to admit that the only Dickens that I ever read was David Copperfield, and I didn't quite finish it. My other exposure has been through movies and television ((Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol through various iterations like Scrooged), but that doesn't mean that I am totally Dickens-illiterate in regards to his writing.

This was a fun little tale of Dickens and his book. It’s a novel where the author imagines the details behind the creation of the book, so literary license abounds. But it’s used to good effect as we become friends with Mr. Dickens, see his plight, root for him to write the beloved story, and see it come to fruition. There is humor and wonder included, making it a fun Christmas read.
