Jan 2020: listened to the audio for the second go-round, and yes, it was still awesome

2019: The third entry in this cleverly written series centers around a plot to disrupt Elizabeth's coronation. The characters have become old friends now and they are engaging, interesting, and fun. The story is well-written with clues and red herrings all over the place. Max Mephisto, the magician, reminds us often to watch for misdirection and yet the reader and the characters are often caught off-guard. DI E

With the coronation of Elizabeth II rapidly approaching, Edgar and Max are once again called upon to solve the murder of a former colleague. At the same time, Max is busy rehearsing for his television debut, and Edgar is investigating the death of a local fortune-teller.

This was another good installment of this series, although I don't find it quite as gripping as Griffiths' Ruth Galloway books. As usual, most of the characters are people I would like to spend time with, so I could get to know
