This book kept me hooked through the end even though I knew where it was headed quite early on. I usually do this in books that don't feature crappy writing - so it's not really a deal breaker for me. But I need a good rationalization of the detective's thought process, and Carl Morck's techniques made sense even if I didn't always agree with them.

This was ok, interesting but not very gripping. I know I was put off by Carl's mental voice and characterizations of his fellow people but I wouldn't say that everyone else would feel that way so I won't recommend one way or the other.
It was fun at least to read a book by a Danish author set in Denmark. A changeup from all the American based. I'll probably read one more book and give Carl another shot just to be sure it wasn't something in my own life coloring my impression of the book. ...more
