This was such an exciting read. I don't often read thrillers but every once in a while I pick on up. This had been sitting on my shelves for a while but I am glad I finally picked it up.
Carl Morck - the novel's main character - is not the most likeable character, but he definitely grew on me. I was surprised more by side character Assad, a young man from the Middle East. It's less because of the mystery storyline involved and more because of the characterizations of detective Carl Morck and his amusing and mysterious new Syrian assistant, Assad.

I liked this book, which was recommended to me by several Goodreads friends, but I was also slightly confused by it. There are bits of information missing which I'm longing for. Hopefully, those will be addressed in the next book in this series.
