I have only recently discovered Alice Hoffman and the few books I have read by her have been wonderful. I must admit that it was the cover of Blackbird House that first drew my attention but it was the collection of twelve interwoven short stories kept my attention. This one was a gem. Alice Hoffman is hit or miss for me, but I have most of her books on my reading radar. But I don't usually get around to them unless I've got nothing else. Well, that was a bit different. Each chapter was a very brief short story about different inhabitants of a farm in Cape Cod through the years (from the colonial times to modern day). Because each character had such a short time before the story jumped to the next one, I really didn't feel a connection with anyone in this book. The imagery was well-written though.
