What a story!!! I usually shy away from "young adult" but this story didn't go in the direction of some of them do. This is a story of inner beauty, faith, love, and friendship and it hit all my emotions. Imagine out walking, listening to the audiobook, and laughing out loud at times and then wiping tears away.

I loved this book! The story goes back and forth between the past and present, starting when Fern Taylor is a young girl with red hair, a skinny build and bad teeth. She's got a huge crush on Ambrose Young, an older, tall, handsome athlete. The third main character in this story is Fern's cousin, Bailey Sheen, who has muscular dystrophy.
