What Members Thought
Extremely slow start. The first half was a chore to get through. But the last 40% or so was unputdownable.
This was a fascinating read - I loved so much about this book. The characters were well written with depth, the alternate history is woven in so effortlessly that it could have been real. Grant stays true to the time period in how he depicts sexism and racism, and I love that he portrays girls from such different walks of life. Beyond all the social and political nuances, this was at its core, a very enjoyable book - action, adventure, strong protagonists, and a great plot.
