I've not had the pleasure of reading Gail Carriger's adult series set in the same universe, so I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of the references to those books. I mean, I probably would have known what use a lady would have for a red doily and a lemon. And why a robin in a bowler (or was it robin in a bowl) would be dangerous. Despite that or probably because of it, I enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed it more towards the end than the beginning, because most of the book is explanation of the world rath

I liked this book. Lots of secrets around and not so much etiquette, unless you call learning how to kill and protect yourself is etiquette.

This books was very different that what I originally expected. It falls in a steampunk category, which I was definitely not counting on. It was good though! I found myself giggling at character's names and little jokes here and there in the story, so it was entertaining.
The only thing I'll say that is negative is that it took quite a while for me to get going with it. It is pretty slow until about halfway through.
This was an ok book, not one of my favorites. That said, I do plan on reading the

Not bad, curious to see how the story progresses from here...

This was definitely a strange world, set in the past but also futuristic... steam punk???

Totally not what I was expecting but it was still quite interesting, could make an interesting movie if it was done right.

I will definitely continue the series because this could go in many directions and it has piqued my curiosity.
