I really enjoyed this book. It was whimsical and the magic was so unique. I loved reading about the different types of magic and the things that the magicians could do. Who knew that paper Folding so be so interesting?
At first I didn't like Ceony because she was judgmental and refused the keep an open mind. She quickly grew as a character and I ended up liking her quite a bit. I love when a character develops and grows as you read.

Wow, I thought this was an AMAZING book. I thought the plot and characters were very well written. Once I got started it was hard to put down. I love the idea of a magic school that teaches you different things and once you graduated you are sent to a Mag. of a certain type of magic and learn all you can from them. I thought it was a cool idea to have paper magic. How paper can be brought to life as different things. Plus this book had the right amount of adventure and a small touch of romance.

So first of all, I love this cover. It's simple, it's pretty and it's eyecatching. Did I love this book? No, but I did like it. There were parts that I thought were really good, and really creepy in all the best ways. I'll admit, I did have high hopes that it wouldn't turn out with Ceony falling in love with Thane, but it was so minimal I can almost let it pass. I did wish there had been a bit more detail about the magic though.

This one started off feeling like a Harry Potter rip off. It took me a bit to get into the book because of that. However, once it got going, things rolled pretty well. I did find myself often distracted by questions I kept formulating about the world Holmberg has created, but hopefully some of these will be answered for me throughout the remaining 2 books of the trilogy. I enjoyed the general premise and the ending, while not fantastic, was strong. I'm looking forward to continuing on to book #2
