This was book was so much better than I was expecting...I really thought I'd hate it! The prologue was very boring, but once I got past that I was flying through the pages and probably would have finished this book in one night had I not had to set it aside because of another book that I had to finish.
The Ruins of Gorlan would be perfect for any fan of fantasy or medieval fiction. I would especially recommend this to young boys, as I think they would very much enjoy it. :) ...more

I really enjoyed this. The character of Will was endearing, and I enjoyed seeing him face what life threw at him and begin to grow into the person he needed to become. And the other characters were good balances, especially Horace and Halt. I'm not usually a great fan of plot-lines built around historic or mythical battles, but this was done well, and I kept wanting to know what would happen next.
