I really liked this book and I loved the characters. The ghosts were really great characters. I love grumpy old Maxie and PI Paul. I also just Alison and her daughter. The cop I could do without. She really played a nothing role except to tell Alison she should let them protect her and she was messing everything up. The story line kept me guessing till the end and I am so glad that the history teacher is history. Alison should have a great hot guy.

Night of the Living Deed by E.J.Copperman is the first book in A haunted Guesthouse Mystery series and a captivating and enthralling introduction. Alison Kerby purchases a property planning to do it up and open a guesthouse only to find it already inhabited by two ghosts, the previous owner Maxie Malone and a private detective she had hired after receiving threatening messages. They had been murdered but were unaware of how or why and enlist Alison's help to solve the crime. I enjoyed this book ...more

I was looking for a book set in New Jersey and picked up Night of the Living Deed, the first book in the Haunted Guesthouse cozy mystery series.

After her divorce Alison Kerby wants to start over with her nine year old daughter Melissa. Her plan is to open up a guest house so she buys a seven bedroom fixer upper in Harbor Haven, New Jersey and plans to do all her own repairs. Her project is moving along when a bucket of compound falls on her head, knocking her unconscious. When she comes to, she

What a fun read Night of the Living Deed by E.J. Copperman! Having listened to other books in the series, A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery, I decided to listen to this one which is the first book in the series. It was really fun visiting with Alison, Melissa, Maxie, and Paul again! I really love knowing the places in New Jersey that the author refers to, especially the stereotypic NJ personalities! This was really a great book to listen to driving to tennis and walking Maximus, my daughter's German ...more

This was hilarious. The main character does stupid things but it's in character - she never once thinks she's capable of investigating at all, she's on call with a ghost who is supposedly better at it, but was only in the business for about six months before he got offed? It's about as stupid as it sounds but the murderers aren't too clever either so this works out. I love the ghosts, and the MC, her mom and her child and her best friends. Continuing this series. ...more

I picked this up only because it said Cozy Mystery and the cover worked for something.
However, I ended up really liking the book, and well, what can I say, the MC, she, after all, has an awesome name, and it is spelled correctly.

This book had been on my TBR list for a while, but for one reason or another, I just hadn't gotten around to reading it. A couple of days ago, I finally picked it up and devoured it. It's a fun read--great narrator, quirky list of supporting characters, and a bit of unapologetic campiness. I did the audibook this time around, and the narrator was fantastic. ...more
