I’m so excited to finally start this series. I’ve had so many people suggest it over the years and I can clearly see why they did. I enjoyed this start to the Fixer-Upper Mystery. The setting was charming, the characters were great and the mystery just kept getting better and better as the story progressed.

The bad news - there is a love triangle and I hate them.
I liked Shannon and her friends. She is a capable adult who runs a construction company and actually can do the work (and does work occasionally in the book). She has a horrible blind date that ends in assault in public (and I still don't know why no one called the police) and then she finds the body of the blind date and is immediately suspect number 1.

Shannon is happy to put her rotten date behind her, but when Jerry’s found dead in a run-down Victorian home that she’s been hired to restore, the town’s attractive new police chief suspects that her threats may have laid the foundation for murder. Determined to cl

Great first installment in a new series by Kate Carlisle. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, which was a little distracting. Also, the whole high school mean-girls thing was a little annoying. But...oh mynthendescription of the Victorian Houses was more than enough to keep my attention. I will keep reading this series!

Not quite a four star read, but I'm rounding up. I really liked the character of Shannon Hammer and loved the Lighthouse Cove setting. The last quarter of the book seemed a bit slow; I started wondering if the book was going to ever reveal the killer. It did. :) I will definitely continue this series.
