I should have written a proper review for this book when I read it, but I finished it during a trip to Korea with my friend.

The Ruins, such an old book and famous horror movie - it's almost perfectly translated from the book to the movie, which is why I gave it the three-star rating. This book was amazing! Very well written and very fast paced! I almost couldn't put it down! The source of terror in the novel seems kind of silly at first, but it really was quite scary...if you are an imaginative reader who puts yourself in the character's situations, then this book will scare you.
Besides being scary it was fast paced...you're through before you know it. Also well written...Smith's words seem to flow on the page and really carry you through the story. I would highly recommend

Gnarly and gross. I loved every second of it. Reminded me of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, which might just mean I need to read more survival horror - actually I should do that anyway because it's totally my thing. Some of the imagery is going to stick with me for a long time. ...more
