I truly believe this series is one of the best fairy tale retellings I have ever read.

I love that Marissa Meyer takes the basic plot elements of the original fairy tale (mean step mother, charming prince, female MC who is forced to work to support family) but then makes the story itself completely different and unique (futuristic society with lunar threat). I love everything about this series and feel it is well done.

Retellings are ten a penny these days so it must be a challenge to find a new way of looking at a classic tale; luckily Meyer has more than risen to that challenge. This is not your classic "repaint the villain" retelling (a la Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West - which I also loved!) but a completely new twist set in a dystopian world. A metal hand and foot and two thumbs up!

LOVE x INFINITY=how much I loved this book! The ending is phenomenal, and now I feel like a cyborg, with joy buzzing through me like electricity through Cinder's veins. Marissa Meyer is a genius with coming up with a technologically savvy twist to the original fairy tale, which pales in comparison to the twists and turns and roller coaster rides my heart went through reading this novel. I am so glad I took my time with this one. Otherwise, I'd be crashing

The book was slow to start, but the characters were intriguing enough to keep my interest. The fairytale retelling was well done and in a unique way. By the end of the book I was attached to these characters and needed to know more.

Light, entertaining, funny and very different. I loved the blending of the fairytale with cyborgs. Although if you want a book with deep characters and an unpredictable plot, then this probably isn't the book for you. ...more
