To Helvetica and Back by Paige Shelton is the first book in A Dangerous Type Mystery series. The Rescued Word is a shop that repairs typewriters and restores old books. A customer demands to buy one of the typewriters that has been brought in for repairs and is refused and then is found dead in the alley behind the shop. An interesting book , although a little slow. I really enjoy Paige Shelton's books, but after having read half a dozen or so of them I can't help wondering why the relationships she creates all have to be awkward in some way. I guess that's probably true to life but I've never read a romantic relationship in one of her books that didn't on some level make me cringe a little. That being said, this book was a fun read, fast-paced and interesting, with lots of great characters. Hopefully Seth doesn't turn out to be quite as much of a weirdo as ...more

This was fun! I did roll my eyes at all the times Jodie the cop lets our heroine, her best friend Clare, tag along to all the fun cop adventures, but it's still fun. The mystery is okay, but the characters make the series. And there's a cat on that cover, that my toddler adorably calls "Patches". The only character I didn't warm up to was the love interest, Seth. ...more
