This was a good mystery, very complex and with lots of twists. The family aspect was lovely, and I liked that the dynamics felt realistic. The first half (the set-up) was slow to me, but the second half of the book was super quick to read as things really came together well and kept me guessing until close to the end of the story.

Content: expletives and profanity, alcohol (including a bar setting and drunkenness), drugs

Julia returns to Maine to help her family with their clambake business, but a murder and then other crimes start to threaten the viability of their business. Julie decides to take matters into her own hands to find out what's going on. Like many first books of a series, there are a lot of people and it's hard to keep track of everyone, but overall I enjoyed this story. 3.5 stars. ...more
