This first in a series was EXCELLENT!! I had my doubts about a cozy that is over 300 pages long, figuring the author needed a better editor. Delighted to be wrong. The story is engaging; there is a new revelation in nearly every chapter. The MC is strong and vulnerable in a believable way. Returning home to save the family business and property from financial ruin, she ends up in the middle of a murder. Like her relationships with family members and the community. There were a number of suspects ...more

Julia manages to work out a plan with the local b ...more

This was a really good first book and I would rate it 3.5 (now I have to choose between a 3 and a 4). I had heard good things about it and wasn't disappointed. I was pretty sure whodunit about halfway through and turned out to be correct, but there was plenty to keep my interest. I really liked the family vibe of the clambake and most of the townies.

Did not see that coming

I was shocked by how much loved this book. I didn't see the twist coming nor who the killer was which I loved. I will be reading the next book ASAP.
