A waste of a cool idea, and the description is inaccurate. This is bad YA Christian fiction with insufferable characters. It's a 200-page (if you include the 100 white pages) preachy cliche. Tons of references to God's will and God's gifts. The first man to measure time is a "sinner" because...he measured time. Yes, mankind was much better off 6,000 years ago before everyone started thinking and inventing and whatnot.

I have enjoyed all of Mr. Albom's books so far, and this one did not disappoint. As a young boy, Dor starts to wonder about the passage of time, and he starts to keep track of sunrises and sunsets. Fast forward to Dor as a husband who is willing to do anything to provide more time for his wife, Alli, who is close to death. In his attempt to plead with the gods to spare her life, events transpire that lead to Dor's becoming The Time Keeper, a position which he will hold for centuries -- and beyon

Written beautifully, this book is about appreciating the time we have at our disposal. We follow the story of the first man who starts to count the hours of the day and days of the year, as he becomes Father Time. It ingeniously incorporates the biblical story of the Tower of Babel as we see the repercussions of the introduction of the concept of time into people's lives. As a consequence, when he becomes Father Time, our protagonist Dor must spend his time sitting in a cave listening to the req

I listened to the audio version of this book and thought the narrator did a fantastic job - I loved all the different voices!
The start of this book was great, Dor's story drew me in immediately! I was fascinated with his fascination with measuring time.
Sarah's story was sad to me. I felt so terrible for her, kids can be so mean. Ethan was such a jerk and I hated that Sarah couldn't see that.
Victor's story instead of making me feel bad for him actually made me a little irritated with him. Here ...more

Normally I enjoy the short reads from this author but I was so disappointed in this one. Yes, it's imaginative but far too simplistic. He could have written this story in a page or two. I hope he does better on his next novel.

This book reminded me a little of Charles Dicken's The Christmas Carol but only with the ghost of the future. It was slow in the beginning when telling the tale of Dorr and how he "discovered" time and was banished by God into a cave but I did like how Father Time showed Sarah and Victor how their choices affected those around them and made them realize that they really were not the right decisions. In general I think Albom's books are ok. They are pretty esoteric but I liked this one was I was

I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the time (no pun intended) to read this book. It just didn't catch my attention, but I have trouble passing a book through my hands without reading it. I just couldn't stop once I started. This is one of those stories that really sets you back on your heels and makes you think.
I realize we have to keep track of our time, but this reminds me to not watch the clock, but to watch life as I move through this world. ...more

"Cette histoire parle du temps et de ce qu'il signifie"
Le déroulement de l'histoire est assez prévisible. J'ai malgré tout beaucoup aimé suivre Dor, Sarah et Victor. C'est étonnant de lire leur parcours en parallèle, à la fois si similaire et si différent, pour aboutir à la leçon qu'ils apprennent de leur aventure. Une leçon qui fera forcément réfléchir le lecteur sur sa propre notion du temps et ce qu'il signifie. ...more
