I fully expected to hate this book. I often find super-popular, over-hyped books disappointing, or even not worth finishing. Popular fiction and thrillers usually aren't my thing. But oh my gosh, there is nothing excessive about the hype for this book.
So it's a thriller, but smart too, something along the lines of In the Woods, but even more suspenseful and with less police procedural. It's all twists and turns and mind games, keeping me engaged but shedding light onto the human condition, which ...more

This book is really hard for me to rate in terms of just a 5 star scale. In terms of the crafting of a story that draws you in and makes you want to see where it goes: 5 out of 5 stars. I hated every character in this story and detested just about every action they took, and I still felt compelled to finish. That's a pretty big testament to the story Gillian Flynn has crafted here. More like a 3.5. I did like this book, it was....interesting, kept me guessing, never knew who was going to do what, which is weird for me. I actually liked the ending....I think. Give it a try, you will probably get sucked i

This book kept grabbing me, and each time it was as powerful as if it had been the first time. The twists and turns kept happening -- just as I thought finally it had all settled down and I understood what was going on, something made me totally change my perspective on everything. And the end of the book left me ... ragged, wondering, worrying, ... convinced that this can't really be how it is.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the book. It was engaging, entertaining and different from anything I had read in awhile.
The second half was good...I had hoped for a different ending which is why I did not give it 5 Stars. I felt it had a lot of potential and just fell a bit short.
