Okay, I've had time to sleep on it. I think I can semi-coherently organize my thoughts now. We'll give it a go. . .

As much as I pride myself on an extensive vocabulary, I can only settle on one word to describe this book: Wow.

I felt the story started out a bit slow but by halfway through, that is long forgotten. There are a dizzying number of twists, turns, forks in the road, dead ends, etc. In fact, I felt quite a bit as though I were in a wooden cart, being towed by a car down a gravel road:

I'm not even sure where to begin with my thoughts. I've been participating in a Q&A on this, a "answer questions as you read" kind of thing. My feelings for the people in this book have been all over the place. It's so hard to really review this book without giving things away. I admit I was sucked into the suspense, the drama, the wondering how much of what I was reading was true (it's written by two very opposing perspectives and I really liked that aspect). More like a 3.5. I did like this book, it was....interesting, kept me guessing, never knew who was going to do what, which is weird for me. I actually liked the ending....I think. I had heard that a lot of people were upset about the ending so I was kind of prepared for some crazy thing. This book kept grabbing me, and each time it was as powerful as if it had been the first time. The twists and turns kept happening -- just as I thought finally it had all settled down and I understood what was going on, something made me totally change my perspective on everything. And the end of the book left me ... ragged, wondering, worrying, ... convinced that this can't really be how it is.

The characters were well-drawn, even some of the minor ones. Nick resonated with me the most. He seeme

I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the book. It was engaging, entertaining and different from anything I had read in awhile.

The second half was good...I had hoped for a different ending which is why I did not give it 5 Stars. I felt it had a lot of potential and just fell a bit short.
