I listened to the audio book, which is 29 CDs long, but only got through 18 CDs. Considering the book is about 750 pages, I figure that I got to nearly 500 pages and consider that long enough for me to count it read. The book just got really convoluted and I was getting sick of all of the back story. Here's a slight spoiler for you. Nearly all of the characters you meet in the first quarter of the book are all gone once you hit the next part of the book. All of the action skips forward about 93

This book took forever to read, but was worth it. An interesting addition to the overused vampire genre. In this one, humans create the vampire epidemic why experimenting on convicts with a virus that was found in the jungle. We follow various characters in multiple generations as humans deal with the vampires. The thread that links it all is this little girl named Amy. I am looking forward to reading the sequel to this "The Twelve", once I've taken a break and read some shorter books. Highly re
