Nelson DeMille has created a wonderful character - John Corey! "I think I'm in love." Corey isn't your usual loner, introverted, and serious dark homicide detective. He's snarky. He's smart mouthed. He's juvenile. He appears to be a bumbling idiot just like Peter Falk's character - Columbo. He's smart and is narcissistic, but I loved him! It was a pretty decent suspense thriller about the goings on at the mysterious Plum Island until the very end. Then it got a bit crazy as the events on the water during the hurricane were unrealistic. During a storm, it doesn't get less bumpy down below; it is not calm; it is just as likely to be worse. Further, going into a port is riskier while a storm is raging which is why boats go further out to sea. Water is safer than ports at that time. Fun audio book to listen to. Good mystery. Narrator is one of those people you don’t want to like but you do anyway.
