What Members Thought
Belle Cora is the assumed name of a prostitute-turned-madam. Being a madam, she doesn't have the highest moral standards and actually kills a man who is trying to blackmail her. Despite this, her character is written in a way that I really liked her-her spunk and grit and loyalty to those she loves. The setting of the story added to the interest-split between New York and the territory of California during the gold rush before the Civil War. Definitely glad I picked this one up.
