Going into this, the cover looks like it might be a fluffy contemporary romance but it's not.

Quick side note that I've noticed, this book also utilizes the one chapter in Anna's POV and then the next chapter in T.J.'s POV, and I've been reading a lot of those lately.

Anyway, in the very first chapter, we meet Anna, a 30 year old high school? teacher, she's been dating her boyfriend for 8 years, he's never popped the question, and she now needs some space to figure out what she wants 4.25 stars.

Anyway, in the very first chapter, we meet Anna, a 30 year old high school? teacher, she's been dating her boyfriend for 8 years, he's never popped the question, and she now needs some space to figure out what she wants, so she accepted a tutoring job that would take her to an exotic place for the summer. T.J. is a 16 year old boy who has been out of school now for at least a year because he's been battling cancer, he's now cancer free and his parent's want to take this vacation as a celebration but he's not too happy about it. Anna's his new tutor and his parent's asked if she wouldn't mind being his chaperone/guardian on the various flights, since T.J. had a party he wanted to go when the family left so they let him take a later flight.

This story is very fast pace but also not in that first chapter the plane has crashed and they are in survival mode, however the majority of this story is spread out over a five or six year period. There are interesting things happening and everything kept me turning the page, I wanted to see what would happen next.

I loved that in the beginning Anna was never attracted to T.J., he's a kid to her at that point, while he has a crush on her and is attracted to her, it never crossed that line for her. It isn't until they've been on the island for a few years that she starts to see he's grown into a man and is no longer that 16 year old kid. Plus those social norms start to go out the window when you've been on an island, isolated from everyone and anyone, except each other, for years. I liked seeing that relationship go from where it started, to them being friends, and then becoming lovers.

I really enjoyed this story, I liked the romance but I was more interested in how their romance affected the things and people around them and how they dealt with those things.

I will definitely be reading more by this author, this was a great read. ...more

This was a very good book. I didn't think I would enjoy it so much when I started it, but in the end it was very worth the time. The story won't change the world or my life, but sometimes a good book is just a good book. ...more
