When I read a Regency romance I like it to follow some of the conventions. Samantha was so heedless of the dictates of society that I would have liked to see her stewing in her own juices a bit more - she certainly deserved some grief for her thoughtless actions. Samantha was certainly no Grand Sophy (I suspect Sophy was the model), & Martin isn't a patch on Heyer. It seems as if the author read a few Regencies & then knocked out her version without doing any research whatsoever.
