This is a tough book to rate. Giving it a three didn't feel right, so I bumped it to a four.
It is dark, very dark, but the emotions portrayed are raw and felt real. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I picked this up, but I know it wasn't this. I was unaware until after I finished the story that the author is a death penalty investigator, which is probably why I felt that the emotions were true. She must have a wealth of information available and I would imagine writing this was probably so ...more

The only reason this book got three stars is because the writing was so poetic.
