This is a sad, wonderful story. It's coming of age in a dystopian society, more young adult than dystopia. It's there that the book excels - I've no idea if the science is good. It wasn't explained in great detail, but it didn't take me out of the book because it's ultimately the story of a lonely girl. Dystopia in the book, to me, was merely a justification, a crutch, for Julia's intense loneliness. The prose is lovely, and Walker realistically depicts human relationships. Julia is a thoroughly

An interesting concept. What if the Earth's rotation slowed down. I liked how she showed the various different ways people handled it. The story was told from the perspective of an elementary school aged child which offered a unique perspective.
