What Members Thought

From the synopsis, I thought this would be a science fiction story where the world goes through a catastrohpe told through the eyes of a young girl.
Instead, this was a coming of age story set around a family and town in which the catastrophe is a slow burn on the edges of the tale. The writing was engaging, but the story didn't interest me. ...more

I'm conflicted about this book. On the one hand, I really enjoyed the writing in this book. It was clear, easy to read and had some pretty passages. But on the other, this almost YA feeling book doesn't really live up to the potential of the plot.

An interesting concept. What if the Earth's rotation slowed down. I liked how she showed the various different ways people handled it. The story was told from the perspective of an elementary school aged child which offered a unique perspective.
