I didn't actually read this version of the book. I listened to a narration of it at the NYPL website. It was read by Neil Gaiman, LeVar Burton, Rosario Dawson, and Dakota Fanning. They each read a few chapters over the course of a week. A fun quarantine kind of thing!
I'm not much of a Gaiman fan - I just don't get him but I've always wanted to read Coraline. It was an interesting story but again, I didn't get it. Maybe I'm trying to read too much into his stories? I had lots of questions that d ...more

It is always a thrilling experience to read books written by Neil Gaiman. I became a fan of his work when I first read - American Gods. Since then, all the books that I have read written by him, has only deepened my respect for the way he crafts his stories and the subject matter he writes on. Coraline is no exception. It is a short yet a fascinating story. I had a blast breezing through it. Fantastic.

Then one day her mom goes to the store and leaves Coraline home. As Coraline goes exploring she opens the door to discover the brick wall is gone on the other ...more

Yet again I fail to be wowed by Neil Gaiman. Try as I might, I just can't "discover" what makes people love him even though my tastes overlap his fans greatly.
It's a decent story but not all that either. ...more
