This book reminded me of all the things I loved about being an English major. The small seminar classes where we debated our love for Charlotte versus Anne versus Emily, our hatred of Dora Copperfield and about how Peyton Place was more than just a scandalous piece of literature but meant to make a point about the role of women and the options open to them at the time. Conversational and fun in style, made me want to reread some of my favorites all over again! Loved this book- would be a fantastic companion to a book club. It has definitely lengthened my reading list, as I want to be sure to read the few authors within this collection that I've missed!
