This story was bizarre and I failed to see the point of it at the end. Shona Ferguson is a graduate of the Marcia Blaine School for Girls, made infamous in Muriel Spark's The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Shona is a librarian who, for never-explained reasons, travels through time to 19th century Russia with some unknown "mission" from the school's supposedly long-dead founder.
