Inspired by the true story of Lord Lucan, the story is told by Claire whose wealthy upper class father was suspected of murdering the nanny and attempting to murder his wife. He disappeared after the crime and was never caught. Claire has been obsessed with finding him ever since. Like her previous novel Under the Harrow, the narrator is unreliable and deeply damaged by the crime that has overshadowed her whole life. Excellent twists and surprise ending.
