I chanced upon this while weeding shelves in the library. It was not exactly what I was expecting. It is a murder mystery but the detective solves the case through threats to people's reputations, which is apparently still a huge deal in the remote Greek islands. Men still apparently beat their wives for infidelity, even when they have been coerced into it by powerful men, and marriages are still arranged, though they rarely appear to be happy. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either.
