What Members Thought
Vonny and Andre's marriage is troubled. The situation is not helped by the fact that their son, Simon, doesn't appear to be growing. Their next-door neighbor's teenaged granddaughter has come to stay and has her eye on Andre. Through two years of incidents, accidents, and tragedy, hope is sustained, however tenuous. As always, Hoffman's books are notable for the beauty of the language and imagery.
