I wanted to re-read this to see if it stood up over time because I really loved it when I first read it. It totally did! Two children are raised and trained by rival magicians to participate in a duel which will be played out in the environs of a dream-like traveling circus. The circus, Le Cirque du Reveur, is only open at night, it arrives and leaves without warning, and it is starkly black and white.
