For some reason this story didn't stir up my adventurous spirit. I guess it all felt sort of pointless, really. They just spend 200 pages walking downhill. There is never any real drama and I guess the characters didn't generate a whole lot of empathy on my part. Maybe I just react better to stories that are more character-driven. I foolishly thought this book would be boring, I was so wrong! I loved it, great story, great writer. I discover again and again the reason the classics are classic.
