The masterpiece of masterpieces.
I am usually intimidated by massive books because I feel compelled to rush through them - to cross them off "the list." I took this (unabridged version) 25 pages a night, giving myself room to savor the language and allowing myself the luxury of sinking deep into the story. My goodness... It took me a very long time to finish this book. No wonder, it is an epic piece of writing. I can only imagine how much effort must have gone into it.
There are quite a lot if digressions and they can be a nuisance when you are eager to know what happens next in the story. But then, you can’t help but marvel at the author’s encyclopaedic knowledge.
