I should be loving this 1929 novel about a weekend party at an Irish country estate but instead, 50 pages in, I’m bored. I read her novel The Hotel and hated it. Bowen seems like an author I’d adore so I wanted to try another book of hers. Hmmmm. Maybe she and I are not meant to be? Maybe in another season of life I’d enjoy this? But not now, so it’s time to cut my losses and move onto greener pastures.
