read this in the last century....it was then, one of my all time favorite reads. need to dip into it again this century.
awesome book by the way. definitely should read it.
Late to the party with this one. I was never even asked to read this book in school. Not sure that I would have appreciated it so much at a high school age.
The first 1/3rd of the book moves pretty slow. But eventually becomes a quick moving coming of age story for a pair of brother and sister youngsters growing up in the '30s. With a lawyer as a father, they achieve some extra exposure into the shortcomings of our society; and come to learn how evil the world can become. ...more
