You would think that two such powerful people as Antony and Cleopatra would be more self-aware and jump less to conclusions about each other!
You'd also think that someone who was so good a commander that he became one of the Roman triumvirate wouldn't have been so foolhardy as to fight at sea when he was that badly outnumbered.
You'd think that someone as good at surviving as Cleopatra wouldn't act so much like a spoiled, scared child at times.

This isn't a play I had any familiarity with, though I knew the basic story, of course. I found reading it pretty tough - there are a lot of short scenes where it bounces between Caesar and Antony's people. Clearly one of the themes Shakespeare is looking at is the difference between the West, as shown by Roman ideal, and the East, Cleopatra's realm. Male vs female, love vs duty, etc. But the jumping around made it hard to care about anybody.

Wonderful story- I mean, it IS Shakespeare- though I'm a bit confused because I didn't think this is what I knew of the story. I think I need to read more about these two!
